Optical Character Recognition for IC packages
An Omron vision system with special algorithms delivers a stable decoding in difficult circumstances as optical characters.
Challenge
To identify ICs, each IC package can be marked with optical characters using a laser marker. In an inspection process, the characters have to be recognized reliably, but various mechanical variables, such as marking condition, positioning of packages, lighting conditions and other environmental aspects in the production line make stable decoding difficult. Furthermore, it takes time for setting-up when a changeover take place or some conditions are changed.
